Summary:  This is a retelling of the gothic soap opera Dark Shadows.
Vampire Castiel Collins is awakened from his tomb by down-on-his-luck author Chuck Shurley. With Chuck’s help [and blood] Castiel sets out to make a life for himself in Collinsport, restoring his old home and hopefully being reunited with the reincarnation of his former lover, Dean Winchester.

I hadn’t heard of Dark Shadows before I came across this story and kept myself from reading too much about it so as to not spoil myself. It is apparently a bit of a cult classic and influential. Oh, and there was a 2012 film that was considered an awful remake; so don’t judge the show by that movie.
This is very much a gothic romance piece (not dark!fic). So don’t be turned off by vampire!Cas (he is more of a Dracula-esque vampire than a SPN vampire). It was a very clever idea to translate Cas’ non-humanness into him being an 18th century born vampire. A great idea for a crossover! This is well written and paced. However, I was left with the impression that the story wasn’t complete. After reading the comments, I discovered the author planned on writing two more parts. Don’t worry…the story doesn’t end with a cliffhanger or anything. There’s just so much potential for more! sigh
Oh, and just as a warning: there’s a few non-American idioms you may have to urbandictionary. Tagging as historical AU since there are flashbacks.
